As someone who engages in ancient Iranian historical reenactment and living history, practicing the traditional martial arts of Zurkhaneh is essential in order to be physically fit and capable of wearing armour and wielding weaponry. Only a functional approach to building strength and mobility will work, putting a great demand on a relentless, steady grip, arm strength and reliable shoulders. A pair of Meel will be indispensable for this purpose and the timeless record should speak for itself. If the regimen was good enough for Arsacid and Sasanian cataphract warriors, it will be good enough for anyone. And these are the finest Meel I have seen yet, very well-crafted and balanced, not to mention quite pretty to look at. The price-tag is well worth it and the delivery is quick. I am sure to purchase a heavier pair soon. Highly recommended.

Meels are a great way to build upper body strength, especially forearms. Also, swinging meels increases shoulder mobility, which helps prevent injury. I am in my mid-fifties. I bought the 6-kg set (6.6 lbs. ea.), which I turn in sets of 15-20 reps. I love the feel of these meels. They are balanced to swing smoothly. The handles are just right. The quality is excellent, with a handsome finish. Delivery took less than two weeks from the day I ordered them, which ain’t bad from Australia to Florida USA.

One of the best investments I have made since I started exercising 20 years ago.
I used to be a very avid and dedicated gym rat. After starting a family, my lifestyle changed, so my physical fitness had to be approached a different way.
I have tried and experimented with lots of different equipment, and techniques but they all seemed to somehow fall short of how it felt when I went to the gym. I started dabbling in calisthenics, which opened a new world to me and became a convert on functional strength versus simple, isolated movements. This workout style worked great and requires very minimal-no equipment. But I still felt an imbalance with my routine. I learned about the Shena then discovered Persian Yoga sold the best one so I ordered and started an email dialogue with Kashi. Not only is he wise and passionate about what he knows, he is patient, and willing to help you understand anything you need to know and make an educated decision. I’ll be blunt, I didn’t expect to buy this bundle. However, after speaking with him, it seemed like I would be missing out on so much more and the type of workout I have been seeking.
Fast forward to today. I have had the equipment for a couple weeks now and love it all. It is quality. You can tell. I think there is something to say about owning equipment that is authentic to the originator and crafted by hand. The Meels are not only used to exercise but could be used as decorative art.
The Shena is durable, has tons of grip for your hands and you can tell it will last a long time. The instructional book is great. Detailing several exercises and routines. I am sure the DVD is great. I’ll have to admit, I have yet to pop it in yet.
I am very happy I bought this bundle but would only recommend it if A. You have exercised with Meels before or B. If you are incredibly strong. Kashi did tell me I was starting at the higher end of the spectrum for what a newbie should be using but I wanted to have something long lasting that I would not grow out of. He was right when he said this set would treat me well for years.
My only regrets, if you could say there is one, is that I did not decide to buy this package sooner nor took the time to find a workout like this earlier on in my quest to find an alternative workout that met my personal satisfaction. I can say, without a doubt, I have found it. I cannot wait to expand my equipment further from Persian Yoga.
You’re not so much buying exercise equipment as you are developing a healthier, physical lifestyle that brings satisfaction and stress-relief to your everyday life.
I am very satisfied with my purchase. There are other places out there that sell similar equipment, but they do not have Kashi and I think the added value is worth considering Persian Yoga.

Very happy with this bundle. The shena and Meel are incredibly strong and sturdy. The Meels have a beautiful natural swirly grain pattern to them so they look as good as they feel in the hand.
The illustrated manual and the DVD are incredibly educational and complement each other well. These resources are a must, particularly if you’re new to Pahlavani like myself.

Compared to Clubbells these Meels feel so much more balanced, making full body integration much more natural with every swing.

I received these two months ago and am very impressed with the quality. Several other vendors sell Persian-type clubs online, but they are either inferior knock-offs or exorbitantly priced. I’m so grateful that Kashi has made these high-quality, authentic meels available to the public. The clubs shipped reasonably quickly to my home in Los Angeles and arrived well-packaged. I’ve already started to notice the benefits of regular practice with them. One thing I will say: If you’re a big guy with functional strength training experience, I suggest you go slightly heavier instead of slightly lighter in your choice of sizes.

As a result of a shoulder dislocation in my youth, I have severe shoulder osteoarthritis. Searching online, I discovered Pahlavani through Dr. Kashi. I made homemade meels with dumbbells, only weighting one side. I began doing the exercises Dr. Kashi teaches and improved, and continues to improve, my mobility for my injured shoulder. I’ve tried physical therapy sessions, elastic bands, and countless shoulder exercises, but I haven’t found anything better for my shoulders than Pahlavani’s Meels. The time came, and I bought some authentic Meels and a shena. The feeling is indescribable. You can make something homemade with wood, but it can never compare to authentic pieces made by artisans who maintain an ancient tradition. It’s like driving an old car and after driving a Ford Mustang. Incomparable. I highly recommend buying these meels and shena from Dr. Kashi. 5 stars!!!
